Zotero: keep sources attached to a research question
Zotero helps collect and organize research sources with metadata, notes and attachments. Its quick-start guide explains items, collections, tags and citation workflows. It is useful when a project has grown beyond a list of links and you need to keep evidence connected to the questions it supports. Create a collection for one research question and add a small set of sources. Check each imported title, author, date and publication type against the original. Add a note explaining what the source establishes and any limitation you noticed. Use tags for recurring concepts while keeping collection names tied to actual projects. Export or cite from this checked set rather than assuming imported metadata is already accurate. A reference manager organizes evidence; it does not evaluate it for you. Automatically captured fields can be incomplete, and an attachment can become detached from its original context. Maintain backups and retain stable source identifiers where available. Keep your own observations separate from quotations so a later draft does not accidentally present copied language as your analysis.
