WAVE: inspect accessibility problems in context

WAVE is a suite of accessibility evaluation tools from WebAIM. It identifies many common issues and presents information that helps people inspect a page in context. The service and browser extensions are useful during development and content review, including when a page contains dynamic or locally stored material. Test a representative page and read the explanation for each important finding. Follow the problem to the affected element, attempt the user's task and make a targeted correction. Test the corrected page again, but also check a related page that shares the same component. Keep a short record of the barrier, the change and the manual verification performed. Automated findings are only part of an accessibility assessment. The absence of detected errors does not establish that a page is understandable or usable by everyone. Alternative text can exist while describing the wrong thing, and an interaction may still be difficult with a keyboard. Pair the tool with manual evaluation and feedback from people who use assistive technology.

Context and provenance
