Google Lens: turn visual clues into research leads

Google Lens provides visual search features that can help identify objects, read visible text and discover related web material. It is useful when you have an image but lack a reliable title, filename or caption. A recognizable building detail, product label or unusual object can supply the first search terms for a wider investigation. Start with the full image, then try a crop containing a distinctive clue. Inspect candidate results at their original source and compare details carefully. Record whether a result is the same image, another view of the same subject or merely something visually similar. Use any recovered names or text in a separate search for primary documentation. Visual similarity is not proof of origin, location or date. Search coverage and ranking can miss an older source, and plausible matches can be wrong. Treat the output as a set of leads to test against other evidence. Do not upload private or sensitive material casually; use a suitable research copy and consider what the search service will receive.
