Content Credentials
Content Credentials can record assertions about creation and processing and use cryptographic mechanisms to make the signed information tamper-evident. A validator can report whether credentials are present and how they validate. The result is evidence about recorded provenance, not a universal verdict on the depicted scene. Record the inspected file, tool, date, validation result, and signer information when available. Distinguish no credentials found from invalid credentials and from a successfully validated record. Missing credentials do not prove either human or AI creation: the file may never have contained them or they may not have survived its processing history. Combine the result with source context and other evidence. When explaining findings, describe the specific assertion supported instead of replacing careful analysis with a real or fake badge.
