Describe a meme image for the current task

An image description should let a reader follow the point of the record, including meaningful text and the relationships inside the image.

Context and provenance

First decide why this image is present. A historical article may need the composition and visible caption; a visual comparison may need the differences between crops. Write the information a reader would miss if the image did not load. Keep an observation separate from interpretation: describe a person looking sideways before explaining how a community used that pose as a reaction.

Transcribe essential overlaid text accurately. If the humor depends on position, explain which label belongs to which figure. Do not fill the description with guesses about identity, motive or emotion unsupported by the record. Put lengthy historical discussion in the article rather than forcing the entire article into one image label.

Review the description beside the surrounding text. Remove redundant details while keeping the image's function clear. Test a version of the page with images hidden and ask whether its argument still makes sense. The W3C image tutorial distinguishes image purposes; this exercise applies that principle to archival interpretation and does not establish the accessibility of an entire service.
